If you experience a sandy-gritty irritation or burning in your eyes then you know what it is to have dry eys and that generally gets worse as the day goes on.

The eye depends on the flow of tears to provide a constant supply of moisture and lubrication to maintain vision and comfort.  When the eyes experience an imbalance in the tear system, a person may experience dry eyes. Although dry eyes can be a side effect of a certain disease, the most common cause is normal ageing. In fact the volume of lubricating tears drops to less than a half at age 65 than at age 18.
